Mary HITCHEN was born c1786

Mary married James BUCKLEY in August 1805 at Halifax, Yorkshire, UK and they had the following children

• George 1808
• Sarah 1810
• Mary 1814
• Elizabeth 1816

Mary was convicted of larceny and sentenced to 7 years transportation. She arrived in Sydney Cove on 17/9/1818 on "Maria". Her children George, Sarah, Mary and Elizabeth came with her. Her husband James (also convicted) arrived in Sydney Cove two months later on 7/11/1818 on "Morley". Older son Abraham remained in England and came to Australia in 1840

After their arrival in Australia Mary and James had the following children

• James 1825
• William 1826

Mary died c1853 at Ovens River, Victoria
