On January 1, 1759, in Pennsylvania, Mary A. Shane married Jacob Castle, Jr. Jacob was also known by the names "White Tassel Hunter" and "The Long Hunter." [2]

According to Shawnee Heritage II, by Don Greene, Benjamin's mother Mary Shane was also known as Mary Chesne and she was 1/2 Pekowi-Wyandot-Metis Indian, born about 1754 in Ohio, and died before 1840, in Russell County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Isadore Chesne and Sarah Opessa. [3]
