Mary Catherine "Mayme" (Mayme) Catherine McGinnis

Maymie lived the early part of her life with her parents in the Imogene area. She was her mother's caregiver until her mother's death in 1949. Following the death of Catherine, Maymie got her LPN license and worked as an inhome caregiver in Omaha until her retirement.

OBITUARY - MAYME C. MCGINNIS, Shenandoah Evening Sentinel, 26 May, 1980

Mayme C. McGinnis was born April 1t 1889 in Fremont County, near Imogene, Iowa, the daughter of Catherine Bergan and John McGinnis, Sr. She died Nov.16, 1980 at the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for one month. She was 91 years of age.

Miss McGinnis had spent her lifetime In this community, was educated In the Imogene School and was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Ladies Guild. She had been a Licensed Practical Nurse in Omaha,.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass was held at St. Mary’s Cathol)c Church on Nov.19, 1980. Celebrants were the Rev. Bernard Gotner and Rev. William Leahy, S.J.

Jerry McGinnis was lector. Servers were Matt McGinnis, Mike McGinnis and Steve McGinnis. Rita Parker, organist accompanied the St. Mary’s choir.

Mrs. Tillie Currie and Mrs. Emmett McDonald attended the memorial registration and spiritual bouquets.

Church ushers were Hugh Laughlin, Tim MCGinnis and Tom McGinnis.

Casket bearers were Robert Leahy, Thomas Leahy, Arthur McGinnis, Jr., Terry McGinnis, Douglas McGinnis and Richard McGinnis.

Interment was In Mt. Calvary Cemtery, Imogene, Iowa.

Jennings Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
