About Edward Patrick McGinnis
Edward's parents John and Catherine (Bergan) McGinnis immigrated from Ireland in the early 1870s and settled in the Imogene Iowa area in the early 1880s. Edward was born and grew up in the Imogene area.
Edward and his wife Mary farmed in Fremont, Page and Montgomery Counties. They move the farming operation to Stanton in 1936. They were farming near Staton Iowa when Edward had a fatal farming accident in 1946.

INJURIES FATAL TO EDW. MCGINNIS
Injuries received when a cow fell on him three weeks ago were fatal to Edward Patrick McGinnis, 64, Stanton farmer at 12:30 o’clock Monday at Mercy Hospital, Council Bluffs.
When the accident happened Mr. McGinnis had kicking straps on the cow and it got tangled in them. Mr McGinnis was crushed against a wall.
Requim high Mass will be said at 9:30 Thursday morning at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Imogene. Father Paul Morasco, Father Francis Doyle, and Father Milo M. Tennesen will be in charge. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery, Imogene.
Mr. McGinnis lived near Shenandoah and Imogene until moving southeast of Stanton in 1936. His life-long occupation has been farming. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Villisca.
His birthdate was July 31, 1882 at Imogene. He was a son of John and Catherine McGinnis. He was married to Miss Mary Lynch of Imogene who with eight children survives. Two of them are employed in Shenandoah. Miss Faustina McGinnis at the Iowa Power and Light Company and Miss Marcella McGinnis at Ladies Apparel shop. Other children are John McGinnis of Bellevue Nebraska, Mrs. Ed Leahy of Imogene, Edward McGinnis, Jr, of Essex, Mildred, Arthur and Louis at home.
His mother Mrs. John McGinnis and a sister Miss Mayme McGinnis of Imogene and two brothers, A.J. McGinnis of Hastings, Iowa and T.J. McGinnis of Bozeman, Montana also survive.
BURIAL: Solemn High Mass was held for Edward Patrick McGinnis on April 4, 1946 at St. Patrick's Church in Imogene Iowa. The Clergymen were Rev Paul Morasco, Rev. Francis Doyle, Rev. Milo Tennessen. Casket Bearers were E.P. Laughlin, John Laughlin, Joseph Laughlin, Herbert Sullivan, William Laughlin, and Thomas McDonald.
