Kansas City Star, The (MO) - Wednesday, November 1, 2006 Mary C. Collins, 95, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on October 31, 2006, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Church, 75th and Main, Kansas City, Mo. Intombment will be in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Friends may call from 6 7 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2006, at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Mo., where the rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. The family encourages memorial contributions to be made to a hospice of the donor's choice. Mary was born June 17, 1911, in Fairway, Kan., to Hector and Celine (Van Houtten) De Smet. She was a life member of Rockhurst Circle, a member of Burlington Veterans Association. She had been a member of St. Elizabeth and Christ the King Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Benedictine Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Winfred S. Collins; brothers, Emil and George De Smet; sisters, Irma Van Schoelandt, Augusta Jacobs, Sr. Celine De Smet, Anne Lust and Rose Van Schoelandt. Mary is survived by her two sons, Rick W. Collins and wife Janice of Overland Park, Kan., Robert W. Collins and wife Cheryl of Shawnee, Kan.; sisters Marge De Weerdt and Florine Asher; six grandchildren, Julie Clark, Craig Collins, Brian Collins, David Collins, Thomas Collins and Timothy Collins, and four great grandchildren.
