It is my opinion and I would like to set the record straight. Mary Catherine Delaplanck and Mary Houghton are not the same people. Please examine the facts and if you disagree please feel free to contact me.
Mary Catherine Delaplanck who was married to Jacques Delaplanck until her death 16 Sept 1771 Maiden Creek, Berks, Pennsylvania was never married to a Isaac Cooke. That is pure genealogy at it's worse. Mary Catherine had only 4 children Frederick, Catharina, Mary and Susanna (all by Jacques Delaplanck). Mary Catherine Delaplanck was named in her husbands (Jacques Delaplanck) will when he died in 1760, Berks, Pa.
Mary Houghton was the daughter of John Houghton and Ann Gregg and was born abt 1710. She died 8 Jul 1773 Kennitt, Chester, Delaware, Pa or possibly Union, South Carolina. She married Isaac Cooke 2 May 1734 Kennett, Chester, Delaware, Pa. Isaac Cooke and Mary Houghton had 11 known children, Peter, Dinah, Olive, Rebecca, Isaac, Eli, Ann, Martha, Amos, Mary and John. Isaac Cooke died in Union Co, South Carolina sometine after 1790. Some of their children were born in Chester, Pa and some in Union, South Carolina.
There are no records showing Mary Catherine Delaplanck ever married Isaac Cooke, no records of her with the last name of Houghton. The 2 Mary's died on different dates, different locations. If Mary Delaplanck had 11 more children why were they not mentioned in her will?
I, as well as many would like to see what Mary Catherine's real last name was, but until someone comes up with some proof I will report the Isaac marriage as incorrect and not based on facts.
