Mary was born about 1757 in Westmoreland County, Virginia Colony. She was the daughter of Richard Luttrell and Sarah Churchwell.
Mary moved with her parents to a farm near Rockfish Creek in Amherst County, Virginia Colony about 1764. This is where she met and married Josiah Dodd about 1774. Probably in the 1790s, they moved to Knox County, Tennessee, where her brother William Luttrell had settled.
Josiah passed away about 1810 and Mary inherited his land and estate.[1] The family decided to sell the land to Jacob Roberts, Mary's son-in-law.
On 26 February 1819, William and James Dodd, executors, Mary Dodd, widow, children Josiah Dodd, James Dodd, Richard Dodd, and William Leak (husband of Sarah "Sally" Dodd), sold land In Knox County, Tennessee to Jacob Roberts, husband of Martha "Patsy" Dodd (daughter of Josiah and Mary). The indenture was signed by William, James, Mary, Josiah, John and Richard Dodd and Mary Leak [s/b Sally Leak].[2]
Mary was still living in 1819, and her death date is unknown.
