Mary Sewell was born in abt 1622- 1628 in Warwickshire Alcester County England to Richard Sewell (abt 1585-1638) and Mary (Dugdale) Sewell.(abt 1597-1641)
Mary Sewell is a descendant of Richard Sewell and Mary(Dugdale)Sewell. She emigrated to America (England to Virginia) during the Great Pilgrim Migration and married Col Richard Dudley III aprox 1642-1644 in Virginia
Sewell's were quite prominent citizens of Virginia as were the Dudleys which are listed in Burkes Royal personages.
Ref: "The Sewells of Virginia" pg 135-136 "...Henry Sewell came to Virginia from England previous to 1632. He gave his name to "Sewell's Point" at the entrance to Elizabeth River, opposite to Fortress Monroe. His wife was Alice Willoughby."
