Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mathis, 82, of De Soto Street, will be held at 4 p.m. today at Osborn funeral chapel Mrs. Mathis, a resident of Shreveport for the past 60 years, died early Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. B. Roach, 1400 King's Highway, after a brief illness, She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Shreveport. Mrs. Mathis was a native of Franklin Parish. In addition to Mrs. Roach, Mrs. Mathis is survived by six other children, all of Shreveport, Mrs. C. B. Gamblin, Mrs. C. A. McCullough, Mrs. G. T. Weaver, Bailey Mathis, Dewey D. Mathis, and Forrest E. Mathis; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Forest Park cemetery. Active pallbearers will be C. B. Cooper, L. B. Roach. L. B. Roach, Jr., Andre P. Boutte, A. W. Mcl.einore [?], and Ralph Whitman.
