Mary and part of her family moved to Laurens County, SC, between

1790 - 1800. Her sons, James and Joseph, had moved to Laurens County a

few years earlier. James had settled on the Saluda River just north of

the Laurens County line, in Anderson County; while Joseph had settled

near his uncle and cousins on Warrior Creek.

No record seems to be available as to how they received the land.

This land on Warrior Creek where some of her husbands relatives had

previously settled. Mary would have been about 80 years of age when she

sold the last land to her son Joseph. She evidently did not remarry

after the death of Matthew in 1786. It is not known where she is buried.

It has been called to your attention earlier that the name has been

spelled in many different ways, but you will notice this in these records

especially. Allison and Ellison were often used interchangeably while

other spellings were often used.
