Mrs. Mary Emma Ewalt, 74, died today at her home, Route One, Atlanta. Dunsford Funderal home will anounce funeral plans. She is survived by her husband, John Henry Ewalt, and the following children -- Mrs. Allen Howard, Spingfield, Colo.; Mrs. Harry Shafer, Bell, Calif.; Mrs. Merle Canfield, El Dorado; Mrs. W.O. Nye, Topeka; J.W., Miami, Fla.; E.H., Walter S. and L.W. of Augusta. A brother, Charley Need, resides in Atlanta. Surviving sisters are Mrs. Lottie Hall, Winfield; Mrs. Lou Thompson, New Salem; Mrs. Nora Moore, Baxter Springs. There are also seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ewalt resided in Butler and Cowley counties for the past 70 years. She was born in Indiana, the daughters of Melinda and William M. Need. Her marriage took place February 24, 1897 in Cowley county.
