James Henry Forman was born in Ontario, Canada, Feb 1, 1896. He was an RCAF pilot (Royal Canadian Air Force) during WW I, captured by the Germans. Later received the Distinguished Service Cross from the King of England. He attended U of Toronto, taught high school at Oakwood Collegiate. He married Jane Crawford Storer and they had 3 children: John, Mary and Peter. In WW II he again joined the RCAF where he was an instructor. In 1947 he and family moved to California where he bought a lemon grove in Glendora. They bought a lemon ranch in Goleta in 1956. The Forman family provided living quarters for more than 100 UCSB students. |
