Mary Ellen "Polly" (Benton) Roberts
d/o Samuel Morris Benton 1720-1770 & Frances Kimbrough 1721-1811,
burial Orange County, NC - UNKNOWN.
MARY WAS BORN IN NEW KENT CO. VIRGINIA,
married Cornelius "Neal" Roberts in 1767 Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.
1) MARY ELLEN, their first child WAS BORN THERE IN 1768.
They moved to Botetourt Co.(now Greyson County) VA, this is where eight more children were born.
They were:
2) Elizabeth (1770-1833),
3) James R.(1772-1858),
4) Nathan E.(1774-1850),
5) Amelia "Milly"(1775-1865),
6) Daniel (1777-1847), Jesse (1778-1857),
7) Susanna (1780-??) & Sanai "Sena"(1781-1874).

Then the family moved to Washington Co., Virginia (now Russell Co.).
Their last three children were born there.
They were:
8) Archibald (1784-1860),
9) Isaac (1786-1839) &
10) Mourning (1788-1866).

Cornelius Roberts was killed by Indians on June 24,1788.
She being alone with children, soon married the Rev. John Frost, a Baptist Minister, in about 1790.
She moved with him to Clark Co., Kentucky and lived there until John Frost died in 1830.
It is not sure whether she moved to Tennessee with the Frost Family or stayed in Kentucky with some of her children from her first marriage who had moved to Green Co., Kentucky.

Gravesite Details: Frances Kimbrough d/o Buckley Kimbrough & Elizabeth English. This Mary Benton WAS NOT the daughter of Zeke B. Benton & Nancy A. Gooch. Their daughter Mary was born later in 1780.

Not the daughter of James Titus Benton and Marth Malinda Benton (Looney)
