History
Mary Jane was born the 24th of March 1836 in Clark County, Indiana to George Pectol and Sarah Reasor. Mary Jane raised a large family in the harshness of pioneer life, being the second polygamy wife of Daniel B. Funk. Daniel was a prominent man, associating with many dignitaries of that time, including Brigham Young, so I imagine his wives were included in some of these associations. She was no doubt industrious, and helped with the many endeavors in which Daniel was involved. She lived in the central part of Manti until Daniel had built “Funk’s Lake” where he built a home for her on the hill over looking the beautiful lake. Here she helped with the planting of trees and gardens. I’m sure that to make Funk’s lake the success it was that both wives and all the children worked very hard. Mary Jane died the 18th of Oct. 1908 in Manti, Sanpete, Utah, and is buried there.
