John Gardner's wife has been listed as Mary Arnold, Mary Bethscombe, and Mary Garnet in different family trees, but no original source record has been proffered such as a marriage certificate to verify any of these names. They may be incorrect, or one name may have been a maiden name and the other from marriages.
John Gardner's wife Mary (maiden name uncertain) survived him. After being widowed she married Nathaniel Chubbuck on 18 June 1669.
The inventory of John Gardner's estate was appraised by John Tower and John Ripley on 28 April 1669 and included goats that had been sold to pay debts to maintain the family. His wife Mary was the Administratrix of the estate.
The name of his wife, whom he married at Boston 10 Apr. 1651 was Mary, who survived him, and married (2) Nathaniel Chubbock.
