KY " One Sunday we went over in Marion Co. and visited 3 of the ol de st churches where the first settlers from Maryland come through befo re th ey went on across Kentucky. Holy Cross was the oldest and there we re sev eral stones with the Newton Name. Some of Mary's own people may ha ve ma de the trip with them ". In 1860 James Gatton (30) showed up in the Edmonson Co. Census With Ma ry ( then 64) and Eleanor (34) In 1870 James Gatton (42) was head of a house in Edmonson Co. with Ma ry (7 3) and Elizabeth (Gatton-French?) (68) and Racheal E. (12)
