Biography

Mary was born about 1690 in Wrentham, Norfolk, Massachusetts Bay. Her birth year is inferred from her reported age of 55 on the date of her death, January 30, 1744-5, per her death record.

Mary may have been the daughter of Dr. Ebenezer and Lydia or Ledia (Hayden) Nutting as represented in several Ancestry family trees. But more research is needed for verification.

What is known is that Mary married Eleazer Gay in Wrentham about the year 1712. They continued to reside in Wrentham and raise their family including eight children including Mary, b. 1713; Eleazer, b. 1715; Abigail, b. 1716; Job, b. 1717; Esther, b. 1719; Jonah, b. 1721; Lydia, b. 1723; and Seth, b. 1725.

Mary, a widow, passed away about age 54 in Wrentham on January 30, 1744-5. She is buried at the Wrentham Center Cemetery.

Origins

Ebenezer Nutting married Ledia or Lydia _______ in 1692 in Medford or Cambridge area. He and Ledia resided in Medford where they had several children including Ledia b. November 5, 1692; Jonathan b. January 31, 1694/5; Ebenezer Jr., b. Aug. 9, 1700; James b. January 31, 1703/4; Josiah b. February 28, 1705/6; and Benjamin b. Sept. 7, 1711.
