Mary Howland³, daughter of Arthur² (Arthur¹) Howland and Elizabeth Prence, was born on February 22, 1668, in Marshfield, Plymouth County, Plymouth Colony, British America. She had four brothers, Ebenezer³, Thomas³, Arthur³, and Prince³ Howland.[1]
The last will and testament of Arthur² Howland on March 15, 1721 identified her as his married daughter Mary³ Goddard, and he wrote in his will that he will give his daughter Mary³ Goddard twenty pounds in money to be paid to her or her children or the survivors of them by his son Arthur³ Howland he also give her his biggest brass kettle.
Henry Goddard and Mary Howland allegedly had ten children identified:
- A son with no given name is possibly identified as Beriah Goodard, b. 16 January 1694 in Jamestown, Bristol County, Rhode Island and married 1st, Ann Smith bef. 28 February 1781 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts Bay. He married 2nd, Eunice West, and married 3rd, Susanna Sisson.
- Josiah Goddard, b. 6 May 1695 in Jamestown, Bristol County, Rhode Island.
- A son with no given name is possibly identified as Daniel Goddard, b. 16 June 1697 in Jamestown, Newport County, Rhode Island and d. 17 May 1764 in South Kingston, Washington County, Rhode Island. He married Mary Tripp. Daniel Goddard was a shipwright and house-wright, and his first wife was Mary Tripp. His grandfather, Henry Goddard, a weaver, came to Maine from England in the late 17th century and is believed to be his immigrant ancestor by most authorities. Henry married Mary Howland in Jamestown, Rhode Island in 1693.[7]

- A son with no given name cannot be ascertained to be identified but possibly a triplet, b. June 1699 in Jamestown, Bristol County, Rhode Island. There is no record to identify him in later life, so it is possible that he died very young.
- John Goddard, b. unknown in Jamestown, Bristol County, Rhode Island. There is no record of him in later life. It is possible that he died very young.
- Johanna Goddard, b. unknown in Jamestown, Bristol County, Rhode Island. There is no record of her in later life. It is possible that she died very young. (Vital records of Jamestown, Rhode Island. The first three letters of Susannah's name were missing on the original and James Arnold guessed her name was Johanna but other records show it was Susanna(h).)
