Mary Ruth Whitfield joined family and friends in Heaven on December 3, 2011.

Mary was born June 2, 1946 in Harris Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas to Harold and Frances Whitfield and was a lifelong resident of Tarrant County, Texas. She and her family moved from their north Fort Worth home to Hurst in 1953. Mary attended the HEB schools and graduated from LD Bell High School in 1964.

Mary was blessed with daughter Kellie, son Kahn, and then daughter Keri in the 1960's. In June of 1976, Mary and Bill Goodman were married. Mary and her family moved to Colleyville to join Bill and his children John and Lana. Jeremy was born in 1977 to make it an even 3 boys and 3 girls. Mary and Bill have enjoyed 35 plus years of marriage.

Mary's attempts to teach first grandson, Josh, to say Granny, produced "Gruna", as she became known to Jessica, Kristen, Ashlee, Austin, Tyler, Cade, Cooper, Megan, Travis, Casey, Macy, Kaylee and great-grandsons, Logan and Kase.

Mary loved country music and dancing. She and her sister-in-law, Janice managed the Conway Twitty Texas Fan Club for several years. Mary was very proud to have known them all. She donated many items to the Ernest Tubb Record Store in Fort Worth.

Mary managed the Colleyville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for several years. She and a few others made the firemen's lives much easier during some very trying times.

Mary is survived by her husband Bill Goodman, daughter Kellie Taylor and her husband Donnie and their children Josh and Penny Taylor, Jessica, Joseph and Logan Bishop, and Kristen; son Kahn Van Houtan and his wife Cathy and their children Ashlee and Austin; daughter Keri Braswell and her son Tyler; son Jeremy Goodman and his wife Michelle and their children Cade and Cooper; step-son John Goodman and his wife Cathy and their children Megan, Tagus and Kase Horton, Travis and Casey; step-daughter Lana Addington and her husband Phillip and their children Macy and Kaylee. Her Brother John Whitfield and sister Frances Baker. Many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews provide Mary with a very full family.
