Mrs. Harpstrite Dies, Long -Ill
Mrs. Mary Ann Harpstrite, 72, a member of one of Decatur's pioneer families, died at 5:40 a.m. today in the home of her sister, Mrs. Bert Frasier, rural route 5, Decatur. She, had been ill for several months and had been visiting here since August. Her home is Sedalia, Mo.
She was born Feb. 14, 1874, daughter of Frank and Julia Donner Moser, and spent her girlhood in Decatur. She was married here to Andrew Harpstrite July 11, 1896. They lived in Decatur until 1911 when they moved to Marion. In 1920-they moved to Sedalia where she has since made her home. Mr. Harpstrite died July 25, 1928.
She was one of 19 children in the Moser family that settled here on land where the Staley plant now is located.
She leaves two sons, Frank of Marion and Bernard of Sedalia. There are three grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Louis Moser, McLeansboro; Mrs: Harry Hackett, Gary, Ind.; Mrs. W. L. Kern, Springfield; Mrs. Anna Quintenz, Mrs. Charles Boehm, Mrs. Joseph Keck, Clara Moser, Mrs. Charles Gillen, Mrs. B. G. Frasier, John W. Moser, and Mrs. Roy Hornback, Sr., all of Decatur.
She was a member of the St. James Catholic church here.
The body was taken to the Moran & Sons' funeral home where friends may call from 4 to 10 p.m. today. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Thursday morning the body will be sent to Sedalia where services will be held Friday morning with burial in the Crown Hill cemetery there.
