Thomas Johnson of Craig was born circa 1598 in Craig, Aberdeen, Scotland. He died in August 1656 in Dyce, Scotland. Thomas was the son of John Johnston of Caskieben and Katherine Lundie.

Thomas Johnston of Craig married second, Mary Irvine, the daughter of Alexander Irvine of Kingcausie. They had, besides some daughters, four sons:

Thomas Johnston of Craig, died in August 1656; his wife, Mary Irvine, died in September 1659 (U. App.) On his death he was succeeded by his eldest son, Thomas, but the line of the family was carried on by his third son, John Johnston of Bishoptown.
