Mary Jane Morrow (Kimberling)

Census information indicates she was born in Missouri. I defer to that rather than findagrave which provides no source for proof.

The German ancestry of the Kimberlings is only a theory and nothing more, as there is no valid proof for it. Kimberling or Kimberly was also an English name.

Mary J. Kimberling on Arkansas Connections

The Kimberlings were my ancestors on Mama's daddy's side of the family tree. The original name in German before it became Americanized was Kümmerling, which roughly translates, "Bruised Reed". The literal translation is "weakling" or "damaged, injured". But the 'bruised reed' idiom (i.e. figure of speech) has religious connotations.
