Mary "Polly" Edmunds, a daughter of James and Sarah Edmunds, was born in the bounds of Amherst County, Virginia on November 2nd 1761.
- Her father had served in the Virginia Militia during the war for independence.
- Polly Edmunds married Chesley Kinney on September 19th 1791.

Polly Edmunds Kinney was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church and a great helpmate to her husband in his civic duties as Mayor, Alderman and Clerk of Courts.
She departed this life on the 14th of August 1831 in the 69th year of her age and laid to rest in Trinity churchyard cemetery.
