The Perth Gazette etc., Fri 17 May 1872; Funeral:
Yesterday afternoon the funeral of the late Mrs. Luke Leake, who died on Tuesday evening, after a brief illness, took place, and the cortege was most numerously and respectably attended. The deceased lady had been for many years a resident in the colony, and won the respect and good will of all with whom she came in contact, and the result yesterday was that a numerous concourse, including many of the leading citizens and settlers surrounding Perth accompanied her remains to their last resting place.
The funeral cortege started from the residence of her son, Mr. G. W. Leake, the Crown Solicitor, at half-past three o'clock, and proceeded along St. George's Terrace and Adelaide Terrace towards the cemetery. All the principal stores in the city were partially closed throughout the day as a mark of respect for the deceased lady. The chief mourners were :
G. W. Leake and L. S. Leake, Esquires, sons of the deceased.
