Leatherman, Mary Alverna, daughter of Martin and Susannah (Myers) Leatherman, was born Nov. 11, 1867; died at Wadsworth (Ohio) Municipal Hospital, Sept. 5, 1960; aged 92 y. 10 m. 24 d. She had been in failing health for some time, due to a heart condition, but was bedfast only the last few days of her life. She was preceded in death by her 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Surviving are 3 nephews and 2 nieces. She was the daughter of the first minister of the Bethel Church and faithfully cared for her parents until their death. Then she took up practical nursing, which she followed until her retirement at the age of 75. She was a member of the Bethel Church, where funeral services were held Sept. 7, in charge of James Steiner; interment in Lower Mennonite Cemetery.

I. Jacob Wismer, (...) was born in Germany about 1684, and died in Bedminster Township, Bucks Co., Pa., Feb. 4, 1787 in his one hundred and third year.

II. Jacob Wismer,* bn. in Bucks Co., Pa., about 1721. Mrd. Margaret ---. The dates of death of himself and wife are not known. He received his portion of his father's estate in 1783. Lived in Plumstead Twp. at what is known as the burnt mill, where he followed the occupation of miller. Children: Abraham, Isaac, Anna, Mary, Elizabeth, Jacob, Mary, Barbara, Hannah, Margaret.
III. Rev. Abraham Wismer, bn. in Bucks Co., Aug. 21, 1746. Mrd. ---. He was familiarly known as Abraham Wismer, the "long-beard." Children: Barbara, Margaret, Elizabeth, Hannah, Magdalena.
IV. Elizabeth Wismer, bn. —; died—. Mrd. Joseph Overholt,—. Children: Sarah, Elizabeth, Mary, Martin, Joseph, Margaret.
V. Sarah Overholt, bn. in Bucks Co., Pa., in 1800; died 1886. Mrd. John Leatherman in 1819. Farmer. Menn. Children: Elizabeth, Martin, Jacob, Margaret, Joseph, Mary, Sarah, John.
VI. Rev. Martin Leatherman, born Dec. 9, 1823. Mrd. Susanna Meyers, Feb. 8, 1848. P. O., Wadsworth, Ohio. Retired farmer and minister. He was ordained to the ministry of the Mennonite church in Medina Co., Ohio, Oct. 2, 1880, and preaches in the Guilford and Wadsworth churches. Children: Alfred, Elias, Melinda, Levi, Sarah, Elmer, Mary.
