About Mary Catherine Lineberry
It is thought by some she was of Native American descent.
This is a contradictory theory by Dorothy Quaife on Genealogy.com: Catherine is believed to be a sister of my James Youngblood, whose land on the South Fork of Rocky River in Chatham Co., NC adjoined that of Jacob & Catherine Lineberry. This was the same area that some twenty years earlier had been Orange Co., where McCullough land grants were issued to Jacob Youngblood in 1754 and Jacob “Leinburgher” in 1763.
At the time of Catherine’s estimated birth, (1755), her presumed father, Jacob Youngblood, was affiliated with the Cain Creek Meeting House, so Catherine may have been a Quaker, but not an Indian.
On 14 Feb. 1780, Jacob and Catherine Lineberry deeded 24 acres of the above land to Jacob Lineberry, Jr., “the younger”, but none of the several Land records list her as anything but Catherine, so I’m not sure where the “Mary” originated.
She may be related to the Jacob "Yongblud" who married Sarah Williams Sept 30, 1784 in Randolph County, NC as listed in the Randolph County Marriages list. http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/randolph/marriages/randolph.txt
