About Mary Louise Miller

ORRVILLE -- Mary Louise Zuercher, 83, of Orrville, gave her spirit to the Lord on Wednesday evening, April 30, 2014. She was under Hospice care at her home.

Mary Louise will always be remembered as a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother whose tenacity and work ethic touched many lives. She lived her life with integrity and taught her family by her example.

She was born in Tuscarawas County to Moses G. and Helen P. Miller and married Ellis Herman Zuercher of Wayne County on April 3, 1949. She was a member of Kidron Mennonite Church, and was an active member involved with the church choir, the women's Sewing Circle and numerous activities within the church.

Music was an integral part of Mary Louise's life. She was involved with the Homemakers Quartet for over 20 years, touching many people's lives. Mary Louise drove school bus for 12 years and took much pride in transporting children to school. She was a gifted seamstress, and could design and create something out of anything. Her talent was used in the retail market and private alteration business from her home.

Mary Louise and Ellis never saw retirement as an option. For 12 years following retirement, they devoted their time to voluntary services at Mennonite Campgrounds in five different states, Transport for Christ and visiting family and friends around the country.

She was preceded in death by Ellis; and is survived by children, David Zuercher of Orrville, Penni Martin of Spencerville, Candace Miller of Kidron, Tobi Zuercher of Wadsworth, LaRue Zuercher of Apple Creek, Bernie Zuercher of Newton, Kan., and Ian Zuercher of Goshen, Ind.; Mary Louise was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One sister, Erma Lou Sommer of Wooster, also survives.

Memorial services will be Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. at Kidron Mennonite Church. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements. A memorial website has been created by the funeral home and may be accessed at www.spidellfuneralhome.com where you may share a memory or sign the guestbook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kidron Mennonite Church Sewing Circle, P.O. Box 232, Kidron 44636; or LifeCare Hospice, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.

Mary Louise will be missed for the generous, loving and Christ-like spirit she exemplified through her life. We love you and will miss you Mom!
