About Mary Martin
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/34380069/mary_martin
Married Solomon Martin 21 Mar 1642/3, as his 1st wife.
∼
Solomon Martin married (1) Gloucester 21 March 1643, Mary Pinder, daughter of HENRY PINDER {1635, Ipswich} ("Soloman Marten, ship carpenter, and Marie Pindor, daughter Henrie"). She died at Gloucester on 9 January 1648.
They had two children: Samuel & Mary.
Note that the date of death of Solomon Martin's first wife, if interpreted as 9 January 1648/9, would have come after the recorded date for his second marriage. This may be a case where the town clerk used January 1 as the first day of his calendar. No attempt is made here to resolve this and other similar dates from the published Gloucester double dates. Research in the manuscript Gloucester vital records would be needed to resolve these dates.
The Gloucester vital records also show a "Marie, d. George and Marie" Martin, born on 28 February 1642/3. (In this instance the record gives the double dating explicitly.) There is no other record in Gloucester (or anywhere else in New England at this early date) for a George Martin. If, however, this record does belong to Solomon Martin, it is in conflict with the record of his first marriage.
