About Mary McBride

Biography

Mary McBride (Curd) Her parents were Edward Curd, Sr. and Elizabeth Curd (Branch).

Mary married John McBride. Together they had the following children:

  1. Sarah Ann Bradshaw (McBride);
  2. Jane McBride;
  3. Edward McBride;
  4. Elizabeth Lewis (McBride).

There are TWO Marry Curds in Edwards will. The will of Edward Curd does not state that Mary McBride was his daughter, but he had deeded land to her as his daughter Mary McBride on 7 Nov 1726. He also mentions Mary Curb Richardson Mary Richardson and Elizabeth Curb Williamson Elizabeth Williamson. Do not confuse the two daughters both named Mary.

Mary Curd Richardson m. John Richardson before 1725. She was deeded land by her father, Edward Curd in 1733 and was married at that time. Her sister, Elizabeth Williams also received 200 acres at the same time from her father. Mary's will, written 2 Jan 1788, was not probated until Oct 1791 but she most likely had died shortly after writing it as she was not aware her son, Isham, had died. His inventory is recorded in 1789, in Cumberland County VA. If she'd known her son Isham was dec'd, she would not have included him in her will as she basically only named her living children and a grandchild. So her other son John Richardson, who owned the Maple Roads and had passed it to his heirs at his early death in 1766 was not named in her will.
