Mary was the wife of John Jacob McVay (1725-1810). They were married on April 27, 1745 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their children included: Mary, James, John Jacob, Edward Edmund, Benjamin and Isaac McVay. Mary was the daughter of Henry and Sarah Poynter.
Please note: This Mary Poynter is the person who married John Jacob McVay (1725-1810). There has been some confusion on people's trees concerning this. Mary Poynter did NOT marry John McVey (1720-1794) of Cecil County, Maryland. There have been numerous mistakes online from people copying the information incorrectly to their family trees. That John McVey from Maryland was born in Ireland and married a woman named Mary, however, her maiden name was unknown so far and they did NOT have a daughter named Mary Poynter McVey either.
Also note, it is possible that Mary's middle name was Elizabeth. I was given this information by another contributor, however, there are no records that I can find at this point that confirm this was her middle name.
