DURHAM - Mary Louise Herndon Meachum of Durham, N.C., died October 20, 2005, at Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation and Health Care Centre, Wilmington, N.C.
Mrs. Meachum was born in Durham, N.C., on April 27, 1912, the daughter of the late Theodore C. and Aurelia T. Herndon. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald E. Meachum of Raleigh, N.C., three brothers and three sisters.
For many years before retirement, she worked at the Baptist Children's Home in Thomasville, N.C., and was a member of the Grey Stone Baptist Church in Durham, N.C.
Her family includes Leaton C Meachum Jr., and wife, Faye, of Durham, N.C.; Larry R. Meachum and wife, Evelyn, of Kure Beach, N.C.; Carolyn M. Page and husband, Don, of Kure Beach, N.C.; Donald's wife, Marie Meachum of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Thomas Herndon and Paul Herndon of Durham, N.C.; and sister, Alice H. Stephenson of Durham, N.C. She has 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Troy Meachum, Darrell Meachum, Larry R. Meachum II, Robbie Gamble and Lynn Heidebrecht and Ben Aubin.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham and at other times the family will be at the home of L.C. Meachum at 912 E. Oak Drive, Durham.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 22, at 3 p.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
