Biography
Mary "Mercy" Marston, daughter of John Marston, of North Hampton, New Hampshire, married Captain Benjamin Hobbs, son of Morris Hobbs. They lived on the Frederick A. Batchelder Place, at North Hampton, where their four children were born. [1]
Benjamin Hobbs made his Will on March 17, 1757. It was proved on September 27, 1758, at which time Mary was still living. It should be noted that their daughter Mary Hobbs was not still living. [2]
Imprimis I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved Wife Mercy Hobbs, one third of all my real Estate during her Natural Life after which her Thirds are to be equally divided between my Son Nathaniel Hobbs and my son in Law John Shepard and also I give an bequeath to my Said Wife all the Moveables [sic] in my House forever and one Half of all my Dwelling House and Sufficient Fire wood till Marriage
