About Mary Ann (NOT Meakin. see notes)
GEDCOM Note
The 1861 census lists her birthplace as what looks like Bettnell The 1871 census lists her birthplace as what looks like Bicknall, Warwickshire The 1881 census lists her birthplace as what looks like Derby The 1891 census lists her birthplace as what looks like Buchnal The 1911 census lists her birthplace as what looks like Bichnall (she is living with children Alfred & Lucy whose husband is Leonard Rickards) There is a place called BICKENHILL (or Church Bicknell) in Warwickshire.
The reason I'm not convinced that Mary Ann's maiden name is Meakin is because Mary Ann Meakin was born in Belper, Derbyshire in 1850! (she was 1 years old in the 1851 census) NOT Bicknall/Bettnell/Bucknal. PLUS, in the following Civil Registration Marriage Index which lists two couples, I believe Mary Ann Meakin married George Heath and a different Alfred Smith married Hanna Moreton.
REGISTRATION YEAR: 1855 REGISTRATION QUARTER: Oct-Nov-Dec REGISTRATION DISTRICT: Belper INFERRED COUNTY: Derbyshire VOLUME: 7b PAGE: 766 RECORDS ON PAGE: Name George Heath Mary Ann Meaklin Hannah Moreton Alfred Smith
