Mary Florey

Mary Ott was born on 5/8/1781 in PA and Died on 1/26/1861 in Decatur, Macon County, IL.

Mary Ott was the 2nd wife of John Flora (1760-1850). They were married in 1796. Mary was only 15 when she married John, who was about 36 at the that time. Mary's oldest step-son was only 5 years younger than she was. Mary, at age 15 was now the mother of 4 children, ages 4, 5, 8 & 10. John had a total of 21 children, his last child was born when he was 64 years old.

Mary Ott Florey lived long enough to see the boy, Abraham Lincoln who had come to Macon County after their own arrival; and who traveled the Judicial Circuit past their door; and who over time, was chosen as the President of the US. Mary died before he was inaugurated .

Mary died on 1/26/1861and was laid to rest beside her soldier husband in the Florey Family Cemetery on the hill in Long Creek, Macon County, IL.
