We know that Mary Ward was married to John Petticrew and that they had a son named "Samuel" from the document cited below. We also know that Mary Ward Petticrew was married and had a child in 1816 when this probate was filed. Family trees give her birth date as circa 1768. Her mother was born in 1733. This means that the "John Petticrew" she married must have been born circa 1765, which rules out a John Petticrew born in 1785. Therefore I have prefered the son of James Petticrew and Jane Ainsworth, who was born circa 1767 in Dauphin Co. PA.
