Biography

Mary Pope was born in December 1713,[1] in Sandwich, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Bourne) Pope. She married David Phinney, the son of Ebenezer and Susanna (Linnell) Phinney, on 27 September 1733 in Sandwich. Mary Phinney died in Barnstable on 11 November 1797 aged 85 years. [2]

David Phinney's will, dated 1 July 1789 and proved 10 December 1793, mentions wife Mary; daughters Sarah Gorham and Mary Taylor; grandsons David and Peter Lewis; grandchildren Seth, Elizabeth Phinney, and Susannah, all Taylors; land of his father Ebenezer Phinney.[2]
