Daughter of RI natives Wheeler Watson and Sarah Taylor Peckham, she was born in Rensselaerville, the 6th of their 8 children.She was the 4th of 5 wives of Zadock Pratt, they married in 1835 after the death of her sister Abigail (wife #3). Mary Elizabeth raised Abigail's 2 surviving children. Mary's sister Rebecca, wife of Lyman Dwight, is also buried here with her family.
Mary's step-son Col John Watson Pratt was killed in 1862 and step-daughter Julia married Colin Ingersoll and lived in CT until 1898.
