Mary Quinn, who went by Fern, was the daughter of infamous Nellie Marston, of Woodland, and Jules Nelk. She lived through the abandonment of her father at one, death of her mother at four, death of her Aunt who was her adopted mother at thirteen, death her husband at thirty-three, her beloved sister at forty, and her daughter at fifty-three.
She kept high, righteous spirits throughout her whole life no matter how gloomy it may have been. She was heavily influenced by her grandmother, Catherine Fallon Nolan Marston, of Woodland, and kept close to her Catholic morals. She was never vacant of a smile and warming spirit for everyone which was genuine.
Fern did not marry again after Joseph's death. She stayed a widow, and resided in Sacramento working in laundry with her unmarried son, John Joseph till the day she died.
Forever in our hearts. Rest in peace irrevocably, Grandma.
