Sir John by his wife Helena, daughter of Sir Robert Lytton, had daughters Margaret, Anne, Elizabeth, Helen and Mary. All who married well. By Dame Elizabeth, his second wife he had Frances who married Dudley, third Lord North. Having no male issue, the estate of Brocket Hall was passed to descendants of Mary, youngest daughter of John and Helena, who married Thomas Reade.

Mary Brockett was born 1576 in Brocket Hall, Hertford, England. her parents were Sir John BROCKETT Knight (1528 – 1598) and Helen LYTTON (1540 – 1582). Mary died 22 Feb 1606 in Brocket Hall, Hertford, England.

(III) Thomas (3), son of Thomas (2) Reed, was knighted. He married Mary, dau. of Sir John Brocket, of Brocket Hall in Herefordshire. Children: Thomas, John, James. All three were baronets. Also two daughters.

Sir Thomas Reads, Knight (1575, 1650) = Mary (d. 1654), dau. and coh. of Sir John Brocket, Knight, of Brocket Hall, Herts, by Helen, dau. of Sir Robert Lytton.

MARY, wife of Sir Thomas Reade, was the fifth daughter and co-heiress of Sir John Brocket, Knight, of Brocket Hall, in the parish of Hatfield, Herts, Lord of the Manor of Symonds Hide (with Almeshoebury), and jure uxons, of Minsden, both in the same county, High Sheriff of Herts, 1566 and 1581, by Helen, his first wife, eldest daughter and co-heiress of S1r Robert Lytton, Knight, of Knebworth, Herts, and of Shrubland Hall, Suffolk, High Sheriff of the counties of Herts and Essex, 1545.t

The issue of this marriage consisted of five sons, nine daughters; see next chapter.
