Mar 22, 2010, Centre Daily Times: Mary Alice Richter August 28, 1921 - March 20, 2010 Mary Alice Richter, 88, of State College, died March 20, 2010, at the Atrium of the Village at Penn State. The family would like to thank the Atrium staff for the wonderful care that was given to Mary. Born August 28, 1921, in Tusseyville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel T. and Clara Robb Swartz. On August 5, 1950, in Bethlehem, PA, she married Jerry G. Richter, who survives at home. Mary was a 1939 graduate of Centre Hall High School and attended Thompson Business College and the Strayer's Business School. Mrs. Richter worked for the Middletown Air Depot and the Pennsylvania State Treasury for 10 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Boalsburg. She was co-founder of the former Military Museum Auxiliary in Boalsburg, a former member of the Democratic Women's Club, and also served on the Board of Elections in State College. She was a volunteer for St. Paul's UMC Day Care Center and the former Centre Community Hospital. Mary enjoyed gardening, reading, and antique collecting.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by one daughter, .... Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Monica Ouellette officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or to the Tusseyville Bethany United Methodist Church.
