Biography
According to probate records Mary (Wallis) Seavey was the daughter of George Wallis 1650 – 1726 and Ann Shortridge 1665 – 1726 and the granddaughter of George Wallace "of Newfoundland" and Eleanor. She is mentioned with her second husband Bejamin Seavey in her father's probate records (New Hampshire Probate Records, vol. vii., page 312).
On 10 Sep 1702 in Rye she married first to William Bates 1675 – 1731. They had one child:
Judith Bates 1703 – 1796 who married James Marden 1697 – 1777
(History of the Town of Hampton, New Hampshire, by Joseph Dow, Vol. II, Salem, Mass., 1898, p. 1047: Marriages, from the Town Records)
On 23 Oct 1712 in Rye she married second to Benjamin Seavey 1663 – as his *second wife*.
Note Benjamin had several children with an unknown first wife all born before their marriage in 1712. After Mary died he married a third wife and had one more child. Mary Wallis is not the mother of any of his children (see Bartlett).
