MARY SMITH was unmarried born 1689 (this profile).
MERCY SMITH b. 1706 married John Kenney.
These are TWO sisters, different MOTHERS.
This profile is mixing up three people - the Mary who did not marry; the Mary who did marry a John Kinney (but is not a daughter of Deacon Samuel Smith) and Mercy who married John Kenney.

Managers of Mary Mercy Kinney (Smith),

I am contacting you about this profile: Mary Smith

I would like you to consider that this profile is confusing Mary with her sister Mercy. Mary Smith born Hadley 1689 never married. Land deed between herself and her siblings establish that she was a single woman of Hadley between 1728 and 1743.

Mercy Smith born 1706 in Hadley, removed to East Hartford shortly before her father's death in East Hartford in 1707, married John Keeney b. 1699, son of Joseph Keeney & Hannah Hills, of East Hartford, he married 2nd Sarah Webster, sister of Timothy Smith's wife Esther Webster, both daughters of Jonathan Webster of East Hartford. Sarah was the widow of John Case Jr. This is documented in Hale House, page 587.

There are Glastonbury land deeds showing Mercy and John Keeney signing in 1727 whereas Mary is still a single woman of Hadley on land deeds in 1728.

Also, Mary Smith, widow of Samuel Smith (as his 2nd wife - not Mary Church 1st wife) and mother of Timothy and Mercy is still living 14 May 1730, when John Keeney and his wife Mercy, daughter of widow Mary Smith who obtained the land as her widows' thirds, conveys rights in the land to Benoni Smith (her brother) at the death of Mary Smith. Mary widow signed 29 May 1731. Deed filed in 1732, so Mary the widow of Samuel must have died about that time?

Also, sister Rebecca Smith mentions her siblings, names MARY first (as she is the oldest born 1689) and then last is Mercy (the youngest).

Finally, there is a John Keeney b. 1712 - 1800 of Washington, CT who married a Sarah but they are a different couple. That John is the son of Ebenezer Keeney, not John Keeney born 1699 in East Hartford of Joseph Keeney.
