About Mary Merryman Stevenson
Mary King, d/o Thomas King & Joane Strand;
m1. 1685 Baltimore Co. MD; spouse 1, Edward Stevenson Sr,
m2. June 1718; spouse 2, Henry Sater.
Note: From Descendants of Edward and Mary Stevenson of Baltimore County, Maryland by Robert Barnes of Baltimore, Maryland, based on notes compiled and generously loaned by Mrs. F. C. Rogers, of Gulfport, Fla. (June 1966)
The maiden name of Edward's wife Mary is not known, but several pieces of evidence provide good leads. 1) she may have been a Merryman since John Merryman made his mark on the inventory as nearest relation. 2) She may have been related to John Vickery, who in his will made 5 Nov., 1711, left "Jack's Double Purchase" to his son Richard Stevenson Vickey, and if he died without heirs, the tract was to pass to Richard King Stevenson, Son of Edward and Mary Stevenson (Md. Cal. Wills 3:216). 3) She may have been born a King, since one of her sons was named Richard King Stevenson. 4) Mrs. William G. Buckey suggests she was a sister of Charles Smith of Charles Co., whose will in 1705 named a sister Mary Stevenson.
A b of 1690 doesn't seem right compared to the birth of her daughter.
Her date of m also doesn't jive with data on her children.
