Biography
Samuel Graves's daughter, Mary, was born by 1655 according to her deposition on June 24, 1670 at Ipswich, that she was 15 years old. The case involved the indenture of Edmund Ashby of Ipswich to Samuel Graves, hatmaker, of Ipswich.[1]
Her father, Samuel, married Grace Beamsley about 1657,[2] or by September 14, 1658,[3] or by 1658 (birth of his son, Samuel August 5, 1658).[4] Grace was probably Samuel's second wife; he refers to her as "my now wife" in several deeds..[5] It is possible, however, that Grace was his only wife, and that they married before 1655 when Samuel's daughter, Mary, was born.[1] It is uncertain as to whether Grace Beamsley is her mother.
Mary Grave (sic) married William Thompson October 3, 1673 at Ipswich.[6]
