emigrated from (Southampton in?) England after April 23, 1638
immigrated to Plymouth Colony before 1639
Date of birth might be circa 1614.
Date and place of birth have also been (erroneously?) reported to be circa 1625 (including specifically 1623) at Shiplake, Oxfordshire, England.
MARY WILDER12,13, b. 1623, Shiplake, Oxford, England14,15; d. December 13, 1658, Watertown, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts15,16; m. JOSEPH UNDERWOOD17, 1644, Hingham, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts
This is proven by the 1653 will of Mary's sister Mrs Elizabeth Ensign which names Mary's daughter Sarah Underwood, not yet fifteen years old, as her niece. Mary had come with her mother on the Confidence in 1638 to America. Martha Wilder was the widow of Thomas Wilder who died 1634 at Shiplake, Oxford England. Martha had several children who also came to America before their mother and sister. One child, John Wilder, remained in England and had progeny. Martha has been said to have been the daughter of Griffin Higgs and his wife Sarah Payne, but the Higgs genealogy does not bear this out. There were marital alliances between Wilders and Higgs in England, but it looks doubtful that Martha was one of the Higgs daughters who married a Wilder. She is also said to have been an heiress of the Shiplake property.

Burial: December 16, 1658, Watertown, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts
After her father, Thomas of Shiplake's, death, she, her mother and siblings (except for John) came to Higham Massachusetts Colony on the good ship Confidence in 1638.
Immigrant Mary Wilder, wife of Joseph (1), was the daughter of widow Martha Wilder (also an Immigrant), and, along with her mother, arrived in Hingham on the ship "Confidence" 11 April 1638. Mary's father, Thomas Wilder, was born in Sulham, England and in 1634 died in Shiplake, Oxford, England. The widow Martha, subsequently crossed the ocean to America and would continue to live in Hingham, where she died 20 April 1652. Martha's sons, Thomas and Edward, daughter, Elizabeth, and of course Mary, all left descendants. Mary Wilder's great grandfather, Nicholas Wylder (sic), who lived in the 15th century, is one of our earliest known direct ancestors.
b. Abt. 1614, d. 16 Dec 1676) Joseph Underwood was born Abt. 1614 in England, and died 16 Dec 1676 in Watertown, Mass.He married Mary Wilder on Abt. 1644 in Hingham, Mass, daughter of Thomas Wilder and Martha Keene.
Their children were Joseph, Sarah, Hannah, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Martha--though they are evidently not mentioned in their birth order.
