Mary was a daughter of Joshua Hardesty and his wife, Keziah S, Taylor. Mary married George Vennum; youngest of four children born to George Vennum and his wife, Pressilla Jones. Mary and George celebrated their nuptials on September 27, 1771 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. They had nine children; six sons, two daughters and a stillborn. Mary died due to childbed fever.
