About Mary Whitney

Not the same as Mary Noyes

Disambiguation

The Marlborough record of the marriage of Benjamin Whitney to Mary Poor reads as follows: "POOR, Mary and Benjamin Whitney of Framingham, April 13, 1696." If she was the widow of John Noyes, the record would not include her maiden name.

Mary Poor who married John Noyes could not have married Benjamin Whitney and have two children with him. That would require having children after age 50 (age 53 at the last child). In addition, Mary and John Noyes's son Moses did not marry and wrote his will in 1714. In this will, he names his mother Mary Noyes indicating she was living and still a widow in 1714.
