About Mary Wilbur
Mary Gorton is the daughter of Samuel and Ruth.
Her father was Samuel Gorton, a distinguished physician, who lived at Swansea (probably that part of Swansea which was, with a part of Rehoboth, included in the town of Warren, Bristol County, RI, but was shortly after 1648 awarded to Massachusetts), Voluntown, Conn., and at Warwick. He and many of his descendants are buried in the old Gorton burial ground, sometimes spoken of as the Coweset ground on the Coweset road, homestead farm of his son, Deacon Benjamin. His will was dated Jul 7 1777, proved Sep 8 1777. He married firstly (Swansea, Dec 9 1742) Ruth Slade (Oct 13 1724-Dec 18 1764) daughter of William and Hannah (Mason) Slade; and married secondly (Warwick, May 5 1768) Frances (Rice) Graves (Jan 11 1734-) widow of Ebenezer Graves and daughter of Thomas and first wife, Mary (Holden) Rice
