Frances "Elizabeth" Wilkinson formerly Elam aka Wilkerson
Frances was the daughter of Martin Elam and Frances Perrin. She is listed in Martin Elam's will. Her mother Frances Perrin Elam, widow, then married Francis Patrum, leading to confusion in the mother's name, as well as her being sometimes listed as Frances Patrum. She married John Wilkinson c. 1698 in the Virginia Colony, but the actual bond is missing. However, Frances was the daughter of Martin Elam and Frances Perrin. She is listed in Martin Elam's will. Her mother Frances Perrin Elam, widow, then married Francis Patrum, leading to confusion in the mother's name. She married John Wilkinson c. 1698 in the Virginia Colony, but the actual bond is missing. However, on 4 July 1747 Frances Wilkinson sold 200 acres in Chesterfield County, VA, located in the "Black Halls [Hills?]" area, bounded by the Appomattox River and Winterpock Creek. Her nephew, John Elam, Jr., son of her brother, John Elam, was a witness. (Weisiger, Henrico County, Virginia, Deeds, 1737-1750, p. 39). Frances was then a widow; apparently John Wilkinson died sometime between March 1739 and April 1740. There is a marriage date of 1698 from Yates Publishing. U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2004, but it was derived from family group sheets versus an actual record. The Virginia Geealogist article (4 parts in Vol. 36 by Lloyd DeWitt Bockstruck gives an approximate date of 1696-98. They appear to have had at least 5 sons, although there could be daughters not yet found. The sons were Joseph, Martin, John, Anthony, and William. All of these sons appear to be born in 10 years, from 1700-1710 per Bockstruck. I believe there were daughters but they were untraced.
John Wilkinson died between 1739 (will written) and Apr. 1740 when the will was probated in Henrico County, though the land he owned, some of which Frances his widow sold, fell into Chesterfield County, Virginia, where they probably lived It was probated n Henrico County, Chesterfield County was not separated from Henrico County until 1749.
Frances Elam Wilkinson had two sons, John Wilkinson and Joseph Wilkinson, she named them after her brothers, John Elam and Joseph Elam. That's a fact.
Martin Elam, I (1636-1695) Note: he names “my three daughters” in his 1695 will - Mary, Frances, Martha - and does not specify Elizabeth at all.
