Not the daughter of John Scholey, of Aughton

Mary Wright has been said to be born in 1656. This, however, is inconsistent with the birthdates of her known children.

The oldest child was born in 1668, so from that we can surmise that Mary was born earlier than 1648. Her youngest child (that we know of) was born 1688, and from that it's possible to place Mary's birthdate probably between 1643 and 1648, but closer to 1648. I've updated the profile accordingly.

A note about parents:

Mary Wright was Thomas Wright's second [SIC: first] wife and the mother of his children. Mary is sometimes confused with Ann Steade, who seems to have been Thomas Wright's first wife but died without issue. But Mary's maiden name is unknown. Some web trees claim it was "Perot", but this name cannot be found at all in either Howden or Snaith. At this point, Mary's true maiden name remains unknown.

Mary's maiden name is described as "Schooley" by some genealogists, but Mary Schooley married Joseph Wright, who was no relation to Thomas:
